Different Images for Categories was created by DaveOzric
Hello, at first glance I didn't see this as an option but wondered if something is possible.

My client has a few pages he links to on FB when he updates his site. There are no images in these articles but some icons in the footer. Is it possible to have some different images for each page vs a global image?

Just wondering,
Thanks

Hello Dave,

that is the purpose of the plugin, indeed: allowing articles with no images to actually show one when linking to social networks.

Right now the plugin only allows one background image sitewide with a possible logo image embedded. The only difference, for each image, is the article title.

I can see some improvement to the plugin in allowing the selection of a random background image (picked from a specific folder). Is that what you are talking about?

Olivier.

I actually misunderstood this completely. I do not want an image added to the article. I was only hoping it would provide one for Facebook.

Does it have to put the image on the site?

Thanks

Well, if images are not visible, they are not caught up by the social networks (as far as I know).

Actually, I am wondering if, using CSS by setting the image to 'display:none', the image will be picked up or not by the social network.

I just tried it: I have added
.imagefromarticle img { display:none; }
to my template.

Facebook still sees the image, not Pinterest.
So that may work for you.

I found this other plugin that does seem to be able to do this with some OG tag. I tested it and it did indeed grab this image I selected but it's not in the article.

This appears to be the tag.
<meta property="og:image" content="http://www.

Thanks for the info.

When I created the plugin, I wanted something that did not involve adding meta tags - especially that this is just a hack that only works for Facebook.

I only meant for this plugin to show the image in the article thus far.
Now, I may expand on that and allow the plugin to actually hide the image and get into specific code for each social network out there. It will be some later development.

Olivier.
