I'd like the items to be listed by the Date of the class, which I have created a custom field for, and have filled in for each Article, under the Category of "Classes".
Documentation says that I can set the ordering by "Custom field date"
but that doesn't seem to be working. Help!

Ah! That was it - I hadn't chosen my custom field in the 'Dates' section.
